This is a short video of a battery/mains operated wooden geared clock. The motive power is electromagnetic/electromechanical.
A magnet on the end of the pendulum is pulsed via a coil in the base of the clock. This clock encorporates a spiral face which rotates once every 4 hours. It therefore takes 12 hours for the ball bearing to travel from the outer part of the spiral to the centre, at which point it fallsback to the outer part to complete another 12 hour cycle. Minutes are read on the outer face.
