In this video we will show you how to set up and configure your WiFi IP Camera using NVR's software manager in order to extend the wireless range, boost, extend and improve the strength of the wireless signal so that you can add another, hook up or place the camera(s) farther away from the CCTV router or antenna.  Most WiFi IP Smart Cameras have built-in repeater than can act as an air bridge to create a daisy chain to connect to one another.

Just keep in mind that this technology may or may not work for you depending on the complexity of your system.  So far we have not been successful in using the built-in repeater because it always resulted in "Too Much Connection" error message.  An alternative is to use a dedicated IPC Router / Repeater to extend the transmission range.

There are also other methods to solve "out-of-range", IPC disconnect or poor/weak signal which we have discussed in our previous videos.  Click on the following playlist to watch them:

With the advanced of technology, WiFi or wireless security cameras have become increasingly popular over wired systems.  The downside to a wired system are complexity of installation, flexibility and portability.

We bought this 8-Ch DVR kit from Hiseeu Store on Amazon.com.  Here's the link to buy:  https://amzn.to/2EPeOzs.

Wired IP Cams, such as PoE (power over Ethernet) and hard-wired analog cameras, need wires for data transmission and power supply.  They typically use Cat e5/6/7 Ethernet cables to communicate with home network router or ONVIF NVR (Network Video Recorder).  Traditional systems need 2 cables, one for power and coaxial connecting to the DVR (Digital) for data.

Alternative to wired and wireless is a wire-free system.  Wire-free IP cameras are the most flexible, easy to install, can be mounted almost anywhere making them the ideal choice for apartment renters or homeowners.  Battery technology such as in Blink XT2, the best in indoor/outdoor 2-way IP Cam, could last up to 2 years.  Blink XT systems also works with FireTV and Amazon-Alexa for hi-tech home automation.

Downside to the wireless IP Cam systems is interference with competing signals and overlapping broadcasts from devices on the same bandwidth , making them less reliable.  Wireless signal strength, or scope of coverage, is tied to factors such as router, amount of interference, the distance and the barriers.  Buildings, structures, trees, walls, floor or metal barriers between the camera and wireless router could magnify connection issues.

There are several ways or methods in which you can boost, increase or extend the weak or poor WiFi signals and improve the transmissions of your IP smart camera  -- bullet, PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom), dome, box, miniature or spy IP cameras --  to the NVRs.  If you IP Cams keep dropping off from the network, the first thing to do is to test you home WiFi signals.

There also also many products and devices on the market you could buy in order to increase the range, extend the distance and achieve maximum coverage of your CCTV system.  They can be purchased from Amazon, AliExpress, BangGood.com and more.

1)  Antenna Range Extender:  These spiral wired simple directional antennas usually come with RP-SMA Female to Male connectors.  You can always purchase additional cable with different length but be mindful that signal lost will occur over longer cable.

2)  High Gain Antenna:  Some of these omni-directional antennas are Dual Band WiFi 2.4GHz 5GHz 5.8GHz with high dBi gain from 3 to 10 decibels.  Keep in mind most IPCam operates on a 2.4GHz frequency.  These are perfect for Wireless Network Router, Access Point, USB Adapter and PCI Adapter rather than as IPC Range Extender.

3)  Dedicated Wi-Fi Repeaters:  A wireless repeater is a range-extending device that works with your existing router to forward the signal farther.  These dedicated Wi-Fi repeaters are essentially IPC router designed to be easily matched with your NVR and WiFi cameras for a simple plug-and-play.

4)  Using IP Cam Built-In Repeater:  You can use software manager on your NVR to program the cameras to create a daisy-chain to extend the signal of the weaker camera via the closer one to the NVR.

Other ways to do it:  Adjust the antenna, relocate the router or NVR, use old router to create a bridge and many other methods we will cover in future videos.

We have an Hiseeu system featuring 8-Channel ONVIF NVR 1080p 1TB HDD IR66 Day/Night Infrared capabilities but there are other popular brands such as Armcrest, Hikvision, OOSSXX, NightOwl, Swan, CamView, HeimVision, SafeVant, SMONET, Blink XT2,  ZOSI, ANNKE, LOREX, Reolink, ONWOTE, GW PoE, EZVIZ, Anlapus, Arlo Pro, Wyze, Canary, Ring Spotlight, Reolink, Google Nest and more.
