Background, Casually is an autobiographical and a confessional poem by Nissim Ezekiel. It was published in 1976. In this poem, the poet recounts memories related to his difficult childhood, laborious youth, and a focused old-age. Religion plays an important role in this poem. Despite the hardships he faces, he accepts that he is an Indian, and that he wishes to call Bombay his home.
