Class 50 50033 Not so Glorious.wmv

Towards the end of her life Glorious became known as Smokey Joe due to a problem with her injectors. The consequance of this fault is plain to see in these clips. She was less than environmentally friendly and I first witnessed the poloutant at Newton Abbot station on the evening of 2nd December 1991. She was working a sandite service to Lostwithiel. As she departs the station she deposits a rather large smoke screen. The problem persisted and I next came across her at Exeter where the driver of the 0945 to Waterloo had refuesed to take her forward, fitters ran her into the stabling point thinking that warming her up would solve the problem. She eventually worked the 1217 to Waterloo and can be seen storming the gradient from St Davids to Central making more smoke than one of Bullieds Pacifics.
