Today is a premiere of a big Redaktsiya movie about BAM.
BAM stands for Baikal-Amur Mainline, the last of the great construction projects of socialism. At one time, this mainline was called the "highway of courage", the whole country knew about it.
When the USSR collapsed and its ideology disappeared, the mainline and its builders were almost forgotten. But recently it was announced that BAM will be completed and expanded. It was decided to even involve convicts in this process.
Our film is about this mainline and about a special caste of people who once came to build it and stayed there to live, creating a unique social phenomenon — the Bamovtsy.
