Odoacer: King of Italy, 476-493 CE

Flavius Odoacer is reasonably well-known as the general who deposed the last Roman emperor in the West, but he is generally ignored in favor of covering his eventual successor, Theoderic the Great of the Ostrogoths. In this video, I explore Odoacer's life and times and make the argument that he was an important and underrated player during the transition between the end of Western Roman Empire and the Middle Ages.
