This one of a kind tutorial will show you how to use an Apple Computer in 30 minutes. The principles learned here will apply to the new macOS and the older OS X versions just the same.

This will work on OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Mavericks, OS X Yosemite, OS X El Capitan, macOS Sierra , macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave and macOS Catalina.

00:47 Macs by default are a One click, you only double click on files when going into folders only.
01:42 Apple Icon Explained (It never goes away, it’s always there):
This is one of the most important areas It has 4 important items we will use and will come back to. Here we can Lock the Screen, Switch Users and Restart or Shutdown The Mac. We first will cover About this Mac: Two sections, Overview and Storage

03:29 How to set up the right Click on a Mac. Yes Macs right click. Come Back to the Apple Logo that’s always there and Select System Preferences. If you are on a Laptop Mac, select Trackpad, if you are on an iMac select a Mouse or versa depending on your devices. So now here we want to select the checkbox for Secondary Click, for track pad use two fingers. You click with two fingers to get a right click. Thats what I use the most, it’s very cool. For a mouse you can select the right side of the mouse right click option. Having the right click gives you many options, like now you can quit a program from the Dock by right clicking and quitting. Moving on.
04:57 Finder Explained (Like File Explorer in Windows) (Cover Desktop, Downloads, Documents Folders)

06:20 Apple Graphical User Interface GUI Explained:
X, _ and Maximize, I Talk about how the GUI changes when you grab a windows attention, the menu changes (Apple Logo never changes).

11:30 Here is how you do Control + Alt + Delete on a Mac. If you have an annoying program that is stuck and shows the spinning wheel or is just not responding, you can force shut it down.
Press and hold down Option and Command, then hit the Escape Key.

14:26 SpotLight Search Explained, Like Windows Search Bar but more powerful and faster. You can find any application here, any file and even do some basic math without opening a calculator, get stock prices. It’s a quick way to find things once you have lots of files on the system.

15:41 To connect the Mac to the internet we need to activate Wi-Fi on the top right. If you don’t see WiFi on your Mac there could be an easy fix for that Please watch the video in the description. Other wise, just click the wifi icon and select the network you are familiar with and input the credentials if there are credentials. Once connected you will have this solid black stripes icon and you are online. You can use apples Safari Browser to access the internet.

16:44 How to install programs on a Mac. So with Macs programs are installed a but differently than Windows and other Operating Systems. With Macs, you download a Program, it usually comes in an Image form. You double click on it, and it’s treated like a USB stick that just got plugged in, that’s called mounting the program image. So once mounted the image will present you with this window where it has the Application I can and you Applications folder icon. All you have to do is just drag the icon into the Application folder and you are done.

22:38 Warning fix “can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the app store.” Sometimes you have warnings that that pops up when you try to run an application that is not developed by apple or apple doesn’t like it because they can’t charge for it on App Store. You will get a security warning and you will not be allowed to run it. Thats not a show stopper. You can open System preferences go to security & preferences and allow the program to be installed.
29:05 Turn on C:\ Drive on a Mac. Lets open the Finder Application select Preferences and here under general Select Hard Disk, you will see a Hard Drive Pop up on the desktop, this is your Root Icon to your main Disk Drive it’s like having access to C:\ Drive in Windows. Next you should Select Sidebar: here, select Movies, Music, Pictures and Your Home Folder for the signed in user. Now when you open finder, you have quick access to all these folders.

I hope you learned something new, I have many more powerful videos on the way so check that notification check mark. Thanks for watching!
