Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Review by Sucharita Tyagi - In the theatre I was at, the trailers preceding KKBKKJ were Oppeneheimer and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, perhaps unfairly setting up what was about to come, for failure. Par it makes you think, jab major movie stars move beyond the age of traditional cinematic machismo, Matt Damon and Harrison Ford, the way stories and characters can pivot, while STILL continuing to maintain your unapproachable superstar status. Shahrukh Khan’s pathan is no award winning cinema, but director Siddharth Anand manages to make it just campy and ridiculous enough to pass off as self-aware mainstream fare. Shahrukh’s off-screen, real-life personality obviously helps add toward the myth of the celebrity you're supposed to worship in a certain sense of the word. None of that happens here, not to mention, Salman Khan doesn’t seem to be WORKING very hard at all doston, something the film chose to highlight for some inexplicable reason with a scene jahaan bakayada dialogue mein audience ko batay aur dikhaya jaat ahai ki Khushi, gussa, pyaar, har bhaavna ke liye hamare hero ke paas expressions irf ek hi hai. His lip sync to the Punjabi songs he’s dancing to is off, and most of the dialogue dub sounds like he’s sitting in a recliner, Pepsi in hand, distractedly going through the script.
If that is good enough for you this Eid weekend, then go watch Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan now in movie theatres. At Least Vijender Singh, looks hot while throwing a punch, the only display of any skill in this film through its entirely unjustifiable 2.5 hour runtime. As for this review, to quote the movie, Game over. Chapter close. Knockout. The end.
