Follow these hand rubbing steps for proper hand hygiene...proper hand hygiene is the most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of germs and to protect yourself and others from illnesses. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, using alcohol-based hand rub is the preferred method for cleaning your hands in the health care setting. But, when not done carefully, germs on the fingertips, palms and thumbs, and between fingers, are often missed. This video demonstrates the World Health Organization technique for hand rubbing, which is the most accessible hand hygiene practice at locations where patient care takes place (points of care).
