How Powerful Is Yasen-class Nuclear Submarine?
Today we will talk about the Yasen class submarine. The name Yasen is primarily a male name of Bulgarian origin that means Ash Tree. Yasen class is a Russian nuclear-powered guided-missile submarine in short SSGN. Designed by the Malakhit Marine Engineering Bureau and built by Sevmash for the Russian Navy to replace the Soviet-era nuclear attack submarines. Construction on the first submarine started on 21 December 1993 which was scheduled to be launched in 1995 and commissioned in 1998. However, the project was delayed due to financial problems and work on the submarine had stopped completely. According to some reports, the submarine was less than 10 percent complete in 1999. The project received additional funding in 2003 and work on finishing the submarine resumed. The official name and Russian designations Project 885 Yasen and Project 885M Yasen M also referred to as the Graney class.
