Crumbling old leather suitcase turned into a footstool !

Look what i did with
Look what i did with an old leather suitcase no one else wanted! I turn a leather suitcase into upholstered foot stool this leather suitcase is upcycled into a stylish comfy upholstered footstool/coffee table with a few simple alterations, purchased from ebay my 1930s leather suitcase had some quality features like vintage aged leather and had ideal trash to treasure makeover potential.
So lets get started
Stripping away the faded and torn lining to give me access to the cardboard stiffning which with a struggle was removed from the lid.
next i repurposed some junk chrome furniture legs pulled frm an an old sofa given to me free from an upholsterer friend, although you can buy these new from upholstery suppliers being thrifty left me more money to spend on the foam i used to make the upholstered lid and i also purchased a metre of fabric with a fun travel ticket theme, this is a great way to replace the tired interior lining and add some topical interest.
I added some cut off salvaged mdf board to the base to give me a good firm safe fix for the legs which were positioned and bolted on each corner of the suitcase base.
Next we glued the foam to the lid and using some thin scrap ply wood made a pre drilled firm fixing point for the eight buttons made from upholstery tacks which were easily repurposed into antiqued brassy effect buttons which were pulled through the marine ply with some stout string we then stapled the strings after pulling them nice and tight hey presto a upholstered leather lid became a comfy footstool with a lined interior to store my tiger throw neatly away.
The leather was tired and dry but the cracked aged effect is perfect for upcycle antique look so using some saddle soap we softened and conditioned all the leather which brought out the wonderfull colour.
