American River at Pleasant Valley Rec Site - Flowing Fresh Water #river #water #summer

The American River flows out of the Cascade Crest south of Chinook Pass. The 2 main branches flow out of sources near Dewey Lakes, before converging where the Mesahatchee and Dewy Lakes Trails cross. This spot is a few miles further down the river, right in the middle of aptly named Pleasant Valley. The recreation site has a few loops for camping, and isn't the only riverside campground in the area.

This river is just so beautiful, so photogenic. It really is a perfect little stretch of water. We need to get up the Dewey Lakes Trail - it parallels the upper reaches of the main branch for a few miles before heading up to the lakes
