This is the final part
This is the final part of a 3 part series on pressure washers. Today go over my top 6 maintenance tips for Portland pressure washer from Harbor Freight that not only applies to this pressure washer but most pressure washers. These tips will keep your pressure washer running for years to come and minimize down time. Let’s look at electric pressure washer maintenance.
1. Some Most units come with this tiny pin thingy. Don’t toss it. Keep it somewhere you won’t lose it. It’s to unclog the tip of the wand.
2. Occasionally blow off the unit while it’s dry as some jobs create a lot of dirt and debris that can build up inside here. And then give it a wipe down.
3. Properly wrapping up your power cord and hose will keep them from getting kinked up and wearing out as making setup quicker. I use a technique called over, under that I learned back when I started working in live production. If you do it properly, the cable will come out untangled and lay flat. I use it on the hose as well. Get Velcro straps to keep everything wrapped up when you’re done.
4. When you’re finished with the pressure washer, be sure to empty all the water out of the hose. You don’t want to store it wet in your hot, dark garage where mold can grow.
5. Talked about lubing o-rings in the previous video but it’s also important to lube them if you plan on storing your unit for an extended period. Like those that only use it seasonally.
6. Bonus tip: when you are installing and removing the pressure washer hose, slightly tilt the unit to save your knuckles. I can’t tell you how many times I got bloody knuckles on the concrete while removing this hose.
