Built in the 1920's 'Murder House' in Staffordshire was the site of the brutal murder of Alice Mary Maud Wiltshaw in 1952, her husband Cuthbert came home to find Alice dead in their home. She had been struck with various items before been fatally struck by a fire poker. The motive appeared to be robbery.
Leslie 'Terry' Green was charged with the murder of Alice and was hanged to death a short time later. Interestingly Leslie never confessed to Alice's murder and actually approached the police himself to offer his help on the case as well as confessing to steeling two of Alice's rings that he had given to his then girlfriend. Furthermore when interviewed by police Miss Norah Lammey, Leslie's then girlfriend said that she had refused to take the rings from Leslie and that he had told her that he would be going to the police to clear his name as he had not been involved in the murder of Alice, mentioning the name 'Charles' saying that he may have had something to do with the murder.
The police's evidence all seemed to link Leslie directly to Alice's murder but could this all be explained by Leslie's presence at the house due to his previous work for the Wiltshaw's?, and the mysterious mention of the name Charles? unfortunately this lead could never be followed up on in future years as he had died before the police could question him.
