Some things no one will tell about when it comes to jig fishing in summer because they are nuanced bass techniques that flat out work!!! Jig fishing in summer is a great way to trigger big bass especially when fishing offshore on deep clear lakes. However most anglers use the jig in more of a finesse or drag style technique slowly moving the lure across the bottom keeping it in contact with the lake bottom the entire time. On highly pressured lakes fish tend to need to be triggered and react to a lure especially when fish are in big schools and groups on offshore structure. One technique that I use is taking my fishing rod and snapping the jig super fast almost like a spoon and letting it sink down to the bottom on a semi slack fishing line. The quick darting action of the jig paired with a soft plastic jig trailer causes fish to react and grab the bait just like it was a crankbait or a chatterbait moving quickly past them underwater.
