Grand Theft Auto 2 (GTA 2) 1999
Downtown District | First part of the game
Part 1/2
Doing every gangs missions
+ A lot of free roaming and exploration
Blind/Casual playthrough

—Personal/Subjective rating—
How good is this game: 8.8/10
+ I had more fun playing this game than GTA 3
+ Solid art style compared to GTA 1 that have one of the ugliest art style I've seen
+ Fun driving
+ The cars looks really good and are interesting, a mix between the 50's and futuristic
+ Cool aesthetic of dystopian setting (a mix between Robocop and Bladerunner, mostly diesel punk)
+ Really interesting map design with a lot of verticality
+ Better police mechanics than the 3D era GTA
+ The 6 ''stars'' level with the army is way better than any other GTA
+ Interesting gangs mechanics
+ Some really fun and interesting missions, like the one in the prison
+ One of the coolest 90's game intro
+ Bonus point for the absolutely useless instant puke and shit sound key
- Not a lot of interesting/complex missions
- The cars goes way too fast if you don't change the FOV
- Really hard to aim, it is almost impossible to shoot someone without getting shoot back
- At a 4:3 screen ratio with the original FOV this game is probably not that fun to play since you can't see shit
+/- Objectively, the original game (without widescreen mod) is probably a 8/10

How hard is it: 8.5/10
+ The hardest GTA I've played (I've played every GTA except GTA on Gameboy)
+ The police is no joke, probably the hardest of any GTA
+/- Some really cheap deaths (some enemies can have rocket launcher/flamethrower that OS you)
- At a 4:3 screen ratio with the original FOV and no quicksaves, this game is way harder and frustrating

How good is the soundtrack: 9.2/10
+ Really good soundtrack
+ The pop/funk and electro musics is over the top good
+ DJ with a lot of personalities
+ The sound design overall is good, not the best but still good
- Not a lot of tracks, can get repetitive after some hours

The last time I played this game was 15+ years ago.
I really like the game back then but I was young so I thought It would be an outdated piece of garbage in todays standards.
I was wrong, this is a really solid and fun game, the gunfight are outdated without a doubt but it is so much fun to play, discover the map, the gangs mechanics, some interesting missions even if most of them are pretty basics.
The dystopian city, the art design, the musics, the verticality of the map and some "secrets" are really cool to explore.
It is probably not the most interesting game to watch, even less since I am a noob at it, but it is extremely fun to play if you don’t care about the top down perspective, even for a game this old, the city feels "alive",  way more than any other games that have tried this back in 1999 or before.
GTA III is objectively better but I think that I might prefer GTA 2.

Modification of the game:
GTA 2 V 11.44
Ultra-Widescreen patch with a FOV changer on the fly. (The base game FOV is unplayable with cars that goes this fast)
A quicksave option that wasn't in the base game. (Normally you need to pay 50K$ to the church to save)
I use 2 cheats:
Cutie1 = 99 Lives
Gorefest = more blood (only use it during the residential/industrial district of the game)
I wasn't in the mood to play carefully since you normally start with 5 lives only and it's kinda stupid in a GTA game.

I had a lot of frames drop and about 4-5 crash during this video, the next parts should be alright since I found how to solve the FPS drop and frequent crashing in the .ini files of the widescreen mod. The problem had something to do with the fact that the screen had more than 2000 pixel width.
