In this video you’ll learn about the the similarities and more important, the differences between the black lion audio b173mkII and the b12mkIII preamps.
Both units are very similar in layout and functionality, so which one is best for you?
they have a different sound, the b12a is based on API units while the b173 is based on neve hardware. Both will add a flattering sound to the incoming audio.
These two black lion audio units will make your recording sound more polished even before you do any mixing. And when driving them into saturation you can that nice harmonic boost while also reducing the transient peaks and it still sounds good.
These are things which make your mixing easier.
Granted it’s not a day and night difference, especially in solo, but you’ll notice when you record through a preamp like these it sits better in the mix already without doing any mixing.
It already takes care of a bit of work so you can focus on mixing instead of fixing.
