The Last Sanctuary
I first set out to photograph the critically endangered  Himalayan brown bear
I thought it would be good to have images of this rare species. With that thought, I left for Deosai National Park, Gilgit-Baltistan
to photograph Pakistan's endangered
Himalayan Brown Bears,
our first and second day of camping we can not able to see any Brown Bear
brown bears are omnivorous and survive on a diet of grasses, roots, berries, and insects, frequently found in meadows
Deosai Plateau, at an average elevation of 4,114 meters (13,497 ft) above sea level, is the second-highest plateau in the world, after the Chang Tang Plateau in Tibet.
Occasionally, the bears will hunt small mammals and herbivores such as sheep, Golden Marmot, usually just before winter, when most flora has yielded to the cold. Shortly after, they hibernate, emerging again around April-May
The next morning I set off early, we spotted a brown bear sniffing around a meadow 1000 m
My luck with the bears seems to have improved, or maybe I’m beginning to understand them a little better after
all these days.
A revival of the brown bear population in the Deosai National Park has led to concerns and conflicts among the locals.
