Costa now offers three different
Costa now offers three different Silver Mirror lenses. SportRx's Sunglass Rob and Johnathan from Costa talk about optimal lighting conditions for each lens.
The only difference between the three lenses is the base color: Sunrise, Copper, and Gray. Each Silver Mirror is available in both glass and plastic, even with Costa Del Mar’s patented 580 technology. They also come polarized, so the choice comes down to when to use each lens.
The Sunrise Silver Mirror is great for low light conditions. Dawn, dusk, and overcast days, this yellow lens brightens everything within its field of view, allowing 30% of light to come through. This lens is perfect for providing optimal clarity and contrast without darkening objects to the point they become indistinguishable from the scenery.
Next is the Copper Silver Mirror. The copper base has a 12% light transmission, excellent for variable lighting conditions. Similar to the other Costa lenses, this one gives contrast but does so by warming the colors with a touch of amber. Anyone that loves sight fishing will definitely want the Copper Silver Mirror, but these lenses are well suited for everyday use as well.
Like the previous Silver Mirror, the Gray Silver Mirror can be used for everyday activities. This lens, however, only allows 10% light transmission, and is one of Costa’s darkest lenses. The neutral gray base doesn’t change color only darkens them, but sometimes that’s exactly what we need from our lenses.
