3-Legged Things has been creative with its monopods lately with its, Punks 2.0, and the Trent 2.0 is an upgrade to the tallest monopods produced. This poleaxe of the monopod can extend up to more than 2 meters in height. Is this useful for anyone, maybe, but it's excellent nonetheless with its design and is able to support about 30kg of kit; the 3-Legged Thing Punks Trent 2.0 also has features which are redesigned leg locks that are suitable to operate even in the cold winter when you're wearing gloves. It still measures a chunky 60cm when packed down. Still, this is a good choice for big setups if you are okay with carting around something bigger than most monopods. It can also be bought together with a video kit, and the Docz2 foot stabilizer can provide even more support.
AmazonBasics offers different types of monopods in aluminum versions and this current carbon fiber model. Along with some spec differences, the aluminum version is far less expensive to purchase. As such, in a monopod, which is necessary is having a rigid construction of the product so that there won't be bowing or vibration from the overload of the camera with only one leg to stand on. This is precisely what this 8X carbon fiber will offer over aluminum. The five-section, a twist-lock monopod, can extend out to 61 inches. When I try to take care not to expand each leg to its full potential, increasing the rigidity further, the viewfinder sits just right. The hand grip is made up of a comfortable material, and its large size feels good to hold steady in your hand. Having used this monopod exclusively in outdoor grass, dirt, and sand, there aren't any issues with particular debris getting caught up in the legs or locks of the product. You feel a noticeable "click" when twisting to know when the leg section is loose/tight. This is fine; I'm never used to it, though, going back and forth from my Gitzo tripod.
The Benro MSDPL46C is a high-end product example of a camera accessory that needs to be better understood and actually not glamorous to look at. The MSD46C features a waterproof twist lock and extends to an impressive 72" length. This doesn't include a ball head. You can purchase one separately or use a more minimalist system that can fit anywhere when traveling. The Benro SupaDupa Pro MSDPL46C is an expensive and advanced version of the three new SupaDupa monopods from Benro company. The spinning foot sounds like some small thing to add. Still, it's beneficial for panning shots as a regular fixed foot will quickly dig a hole in soft ground and 'drag' on rough surfaces as you turn to follow the most moving subject. The SupaDupa Pro MSDPL46C is made in detail, and all the components and controls have proper air quality. The rotating foot is free-running but with no wobble or play; it works so well that you take it for granted very quickly. What could be more specific is how helpful the advanced features in this tripod will be. A leveling head and a dedicated pan axis make perfect sense for every tripod, but not so much in a monopod, where you can get a constant degree of free movement.
