I think it's safe to
I think it's safe to say the ponies were feeling a little bit fresh! We had planned a nice quiet hack to enjoy the last of the good ground, but we all had a fun time despite the spooking, bolting and unplanned galloping!
Callie and Rodge certainly enjoyed themselves and Callie in particular had the time of his life galloping up the field, he just loves his hacking ❤️ You can see he'd been quite on his toes for the whole hack, so I had a feeling he’d go off like a rocket when we cantered, but can we all just appreciate how polite he was waiting for me to give the signal to go instead of just tearing off after Roger and Bumble when they set off, despite feeling so fresh - what a good pony! I also just want to point out that Callie wasn't actually having a quick snack before we rode out, he was just chewing on some of his straw bedding 😄
You’ll notice I started asking Callie to woah way before the end of the field; this was because I've hacked him when he's been fresh before on the same route and knew he was going to be hard to stop. Also to be clear, I didn't just let Callie bolt off as fast as he wanted down the field, this wasn’t Callie’s full speed as I was trying to keep him up together and balanced as best I could on the slightly wet ground, I didn't want him to get too long and slip. I don’t think we would have ever managed to stop if I’d let him go flat out 😂
Disclaimer: The horses are tacked up before each lesson by the lovely grooms who work at the yard in order to save time (this is a busy riding school & livery yard and these are the rules). This is why when I approach the horses in my videos they're already tacked up and I just do some final adjustments. They’re not left in the their stables with tack on 24/7! 😊
🚨For a bit of balance, I would appreciate it if anyone leaving rude or negative criticism/tips/advice would also donate at least £1 to a charity of their choice 😊
