Here are my Snare Drum Tuning Tips and a little about a technique I borrowed after reading about how Stewart Copeland from The Police hits the snare drum (and other drums too). This is the Joey Jordison 13" x 6" steel snare but this technique applies to a 10 lug snare also Heads are Remo Ambassador Snare top - and Remo Hazy Snare Side - 13" Puresound snare wires In my studio for this video, I'm using.. Pearl Masters Studio drums (birch shells) Sabian and Zildjian cymbals my console is an Amek Recall with Rupert Neve RN1 channels (30 of!) MOTU DP9.5 software on a MacBook Pro I'm not using any reverb or processing (you're hearing my room thru the room mics), other than some gates and buss compression (MW 76 inside MOTU Digital Performer 9.5) - and hardly any EQ - I'm trying to keep this as realistic as possible.. and I didn't gate the snare mic.. Mics Snare Shure SM57 // Shure Beta 56 bottom Kick - EV868 Hi Hats - Sennheiser ME40 & Ride - AKG 414 xls ii Rack Tom - Heil PR30 Floor Tom - Sennheiser 441 (black) Overheads - OpenPlanRecording - OPR84 pair Room Mics - Shure KSM 32 / 44 Motu 828 ES and Apogee Rosetta 800 More about me.....I was in a band called "Paul Colman Trio" in the 2000's - we toured the USA, Europe and Australia for about 5 years...
