Learn how to sew an off the shoulder top with sleeves in this easy sewing project for beginners! I'll show you how to make this trendy off shoulder shirt from scratch without a pattern, so grab your fabric and let's get started!

MATERIALS NEEDED:
-At least 1 2/3 yards of a lightweight non stretch (woven) fabric
-1/2 inch wide elastic - you'll need enough to wrap around your shoulders
-A shirt with sleeves to use as a template
-Sheer paper like tissue paper or tracing paper to make the sleeve pattern
-Pinking shears - trimming the edges of the seam allowance with pinking shears will help stop fabric from fraying
-Basic sewing supplies: sewing machine, thread, needle, pins, tape measure, scissors, etc.

You'll learn how to use a shirt you already own to cut out the bodice pattern, how to make a sleeve pattern, how to sew the pieces together, how to create an elastic casing to gather the fabric, and how to hem the raw edges to finish the top. Remember, it's important to cut your bodice and sleeves plenty wide so you can get them over your head easily since this top isn't made from stretch fabric!
Off shoulder tops and dresses are super trendy and figure flattering for petite to plus size and everyone in between!
