The San Fermín Festival is a week-long celebration that takes place annually in the city of Pamplona, Navarra, Spain. The festival starts at noon on July 6th and continues until midnight on July 14th. The most famous event of the festival is the running of the bulls, which takes place every morning at 8:00 a.m. from July 7th to July 14th. The festival also includes many other traditional and folkloric events. It is known locally as Sanfermines in Spanish and Sanferminak in Basque, and is held in honor of Saint Fermin, the co-patron of Navarra. The festival has become internationally renowned, with over a million people coming to participate every year. The San Fermín Festival was central to the plot of Ernest Hemingway’s novel “The Sun Also Rises,” which brought it to the attention of the English-speaking world.
