- A night walk on the famous Shaalan Street in the center of the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Wednesday, September 8, 2023.
- The beginning of the Shaalan neighborhood dates back to the beginning of the French occupation of Syria, when it was built as a suburb separate from old Damascus. It was designated for housing the French and Italians in Damascus, and soon attracted a number of Damascene families, especially government employees, later becoming one of the most famous neighborhoods in Damascus ever.
- The neighborhood is named after Nuri Al Shaalan, the chieftain of Ruwallah tribe who bought the house of the Iraqi politician Yasin al-Hashimi in the region in the 1920s, and built a mosque there.
