3. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
“China believes in the conclusions reached by the Swiss independent prosecutor and supports the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in conducting independent, fair, consistent and effective governance on a global scale. The U.S. keeps making groundless hyping-up and attacking the relevant international organization, and its purpose is to slander outstanding Chinese athletes and affect Chinese athletes’ participation in the Paris Olympics. China believes the U.S. is in no position to speak willfully on the global anti-doping governance system and China's anti-doping work.”

5. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
“China has always attached great importance to and taken practical measures to protect the coral reef ecosystem of the Nansha Islands (Spratly Islands) and the marine environment around the islands. The report issued by China clearly shows that the main factor leading to the destruction of the coral reef ecosystem of Ren’ai Reef (Second Thomas Shoal) is the illegally grounded Philippine warship and its related activities. This is a conclusion based on objective facts and scientific investigations. We demand the Philippines withdraw the illegally grounded warship on Ren'ai Reef to avoid further damage to the ecological environment of Ren'ai Reef.”

STORYLINE:
China’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday recognized a Swiss prosecutor’s investigation that backed the World Anti-Doping Agency's handling of a doping case involving 23 Chinese swimmers.

WADA released an interim report Tuesday from the Swiss prosecutor it chose for the probe, Eric Cottier, who concluded he found no evidence that WADA showed favouritism toward China in its handling of the case.

In the report, Cottier also said WADA made a “reasonable” decision by taking the word of authorities in China who determined the swimmers ingested a banned heart medication, residue of which was found in a kitchen at the hotel where the athletes were staying.
