Rocky Mountain Mule Deer in the Rut
The Mule Deer rut in the Rockies is a special time of year. I love seeing the behavior as the big bucks chase the does and the physical changes their bodies go through. The smaller buck chased the does most of the morning until the bruiser emerged from behind the hill and hurt his feelings. Moments later the two struck up a mean fight as I was frantically trying to reposition to an angle I could film it. Unfortunately they settled their differences before I got ready.
