In watercolor painting, we can't correct our paintings in the same way that you can in other mediums. That is why the last 10 - 15 minutes of the painting process is so important. The decisions we make during this time can make or break our painting.
The problem is, when we've been working on a painting for an hour or two - planning, drawing, and rendering the scene - the end can be a challenge because we've been concentrating for so long. When we're not fresh or thinking clearly, it’s a lot easier to add in too much detail and overwork our painting.
