Who Uses the Safety Guard on a Wood Lathe?

I demonstrate using the safety guard on my Powermatic 3520 that many woodturners scrap. I demonstrate how it has little impact on any aspect of turning a bowl as I turn the outside of a severely cracked rough turned cherry bowl. I sand the outside and texture and turn the inside without difficulty. If you have a safety cage on your lathe, you might try using it on a hazardous turning due to cracks, voids or an imbalance.
