RBI Announces New Guidelines for the usage of Credit Cards For 2024 | RBI New Rules

In this video, we will discuss the major changes made by the RBI to credit card rules that will directly benefit you.
Whenever you have taken a credit card, you must have noticed that it has a logo of Mastercard, Visa, or #Rupay.
Mastercard and Visa are both foreign companies, while Rupay is an Indian company.
These three are payment networks, which in simple terms, act as intermediaries between banks.
Previously, when you took a credit card, it was up to the bank to decide whether to give you a #Mastercard, Visa, or Rupay card.
However, the RBI has now given this choice to the customers, meaning you can now choose whether you want a Mastercard, Visa, or Rupay card.
Since Rupay is an Indian company, the RBI has taken two steps to promote it, which will directly benefit you.
The first step is that you can now link your Rupay credit card to any UPI app and make UPI payments. This facility is not available with Mastercard or Visa cards.
Secondly, you may have noticed that some merchants refuse to accept credit card payments or charge an additional 2.5% fee. When you pay with a Rupay credit card, the merchant has to pay a 2.5% fee to the bank. Obviously, the merchant will not bear this fee and will pass it on to the customers.
The RBI has waived this 2.5% fee for Rupay credit cards. So now, when a merchant accepts payment with a Rupay credit card, they will not have to pay any fees to the bank, and they will be happy to accept it without any additional 2.5% fee.
