Lighting for a dark look can be a struggle. Intuitively, it makes sense to shoot something that's supposed to look dark, dark - but this can lead to your audience not being able to see what's on screen - and noise! We take a look at contrast ratios and utilising a lower ISO in this video, to create a dark look that is visible, clean and controlled.

https://www.holdan.co.uk/ambassador/r... - I shoot primarily with the Samyang VDSLR MK2 Cine Kit. In this video we used:

Samyang 24mm t/1.5 VDSLR MK2
Samyang 35mm t/1.5 VDSLR MK2

Cameras:

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro

Lights used in the video:

Nanlite Forza 720B (key light through gridded beauty dish) - https://en.nanlite.com/products/topic...

Godox M600D (fill light bounced from large bleached muslin rag) - https://www.godox.com/product-d/M600D...
