TheMathCoach explains how to determine the transformation factors for the trigonometric functions sine and cosine from the graph and from the symbolic expression. The video also covers: How to graph trigonometric functions, How to determine the Amplitude, Period, Phase shift and Vertical shift for a trigonometric functions. There are examples included for each concept, to help clarify it while allowing the viewers to test their new knowledge.

CONCEPTS FROM THE VIDEO
► Trigonometric function:
Function of an angle expressed as a ratio of two of the sides of a right-angled triangle containing the angle.

► Transformation of a Trigonometric Function:
These factors affects the trigonometric functions graph and are the following: Amplitude, Period, Phase shift and Vertical Shift.

► Amplitude:
Half the difference between the minimum and maximum values of the trigonometric function. Can also be explained as the magnitude of the difference between the functions extreme values.

► Period:
The interval over which the values of a periodic function recur. The trigonometric functions are included in the periodic functions.

► Phase Shift:
Also known as the horizontal shift and is the distance the trigonometric function has been moved in the x-direction.

► Vertical Shift:
Is the distance the function has been moved in the y-direction.
