I was born and grew
I was born and grew up in Cumbria and since moving away in 2004, I return twice a year in Spring and Autumn to Ambleside in the central English Lake District with my wife and two children.
Ambleside is a charming, characterful town located at the northern tip of Lake Windermere in what is now a World Heritage Site. Ambleside, has independent shops, restaurants, cinema and a large selection of hotels and self-catering accommodation. It is very popular with walkers and climbers and is one of the best bases for exploring the Lake District.
In this short video, I show you some of the features which make the town so enduringly appealing to us, despite the hustle and bustle all year round which comes with being a major tourist resort. Of course, I don't reveal all our favourite haunts; you'll have to discover them for yourself!
