This is Day 6 of our Crossing the Antarctic Circle Expedition.
Visiting Antarctica should be fun and educational, but there is always a chance that somebody can ruin the experience.
Unfortunately I experienced racial profiling and a rude approach by a German crew member while I was on our expedition.
During our expedition there are always crew members in yellow jackets who are protecting area's where expeditioners can walk. They also provide information and you can have a chit chat with them while exploring the continent.
I never approached him or had any conversation with him. But every time when I walk by, he makes some disrespectful comments towards me and make me feel different than other people.
He called me stupid and looked down on me at one point during the expedition, when a friend of mine told me that the rock I saw was actually a seal.
During day 6 of our expedition I was filming and he approached me again in a disrespectful way. He was not aware that I was filming and when I turned the camera he realized he was caught on camera, and started waving with his hand to tell me to not film him. He tried to cover his face but he also realized it was too late.'
We were just minding our own business when he said in a very unpolite way "What are you talking about?".
The funniest part of everything is that he did not recognize our language while Dutch and German are very close and similar to each other. The fact he did not realize that is because he racial profiled me. I don't look like a regular European if you look at my skin color so he automatically placed me into a country of his imagination. These types of Expedition crew members should be fired.

We went to Antarctica and it is by far the best and most unique destination that you will find on this planet.
From all the travels I did in life, I finally can conclude that there is nothing in this world that can beat Antarctica.
An expedition to Antarctica is something that every living being should do at least once in their lifetime. Forget about a new fancy shiny car! Plan and book your expedition to Antarctica as soon as you can.
