Update 2022: Atlas overtakes the Vulcan: Kornit Vulcan ISS Show 2018

The Vulcan is the granddaddy of Direct to Garment Printers featured at the ISS show in Long Beach 2018. The Vulcan prints up to 300 shirts per hour. However, it comes with a very hefty $950,000 price tag. As of 2022, Kornit is mothballing the Vulcan, and the Atlas is the new King of DTG. The price is closer to the million-dollar mark, and there are few companies out there that can purchase the Atlas and make money selling t-shirts. To make the business model work, you need to be an on-demand printer who prints 24 hours a day non-stop for about 2-3 years to get a return on your investment.
Here at Northwest Custom Apparel, we run 2 of the Storm Hexa's, and they seem to run pretty sturdily with uptime over 80%. The downfall is they are no longer offering parts or support in the future. It will be interesting to see how Kornit deals with all their loyal customers with Hexa's and can't receive help.
