Widely considered the most lethal weapon in team sports, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar tormented the best big men in the #NBA for 2 decades.
From 1969 to 1989, coaches would game plan all season for any one opportunity at stopping the Bucks & Lakers, to no avail. Along with the nightly poster prints of Doctor J humiliating defenders in the air, The elegant sweeping hook became the trademarks of the 1970’s NBA.
The hook shot was so daunting that the very few recorded times it was blocked (Wilt Chamberlain, 1970 & Robert Parish 1984), have become trademark highlights and never omitted from a historic reel.
One man who never had the opportunity of guarding Kareem is the one man who had the basketBALLS to openly declare his confidence defending the hook that he took a (polite) swipe at Kareem on national television, CBS with Brent Munsberger.
