The Ganesh Chaturthi (or Ganapati Festival) is a Hindu festival honouring god Ganesha's birthday. It features cultural activities such as singing, theater and orchestral performances and community activities such as free medical checkups, blood-donation sites and donations to the poor.

Millions of Hindu pilgrims flock to the city of Mumbai to join the procession that stretches from day to night, and which reaches an epic finale when the idol finally reaches the ocean for immersion.
