In August 2011 Gibson was raided by the Government as they thought they were sourcing wood illegally. The gov't took a lot of wood from them, but returned it a year later after negotiations and Gibson paying a fine.
Gibson decided to use that wood to create the Government series of guitars. They did 2 runs of these guitars in Gun Metal Gray and Government Tan. The first series had really cool green cases with black intereiors. The second run just got regular Gibson USA cases.
These Flying Vs are very similar to the Faded Flying V series of instruments.
