If you live in cicada country, prepare for this entomological event that only happens every 221 years – when the cicada Brood XIII and XIX have a simultaneous emergence. Experts are predicting more than a billion bugs will hatch this year in the eastern US. Our new YouTube video talks about the lifecycle and fishability of these terrestrial insects, plus demonstrates step-by-step instructions for how to tie your own simple and realistic cicada brood x impression. Includes images of real cicadas in both the imago and nymph stage, plus distribution map of where to expect cicadas in 2024.
In this video we demonstrate the black and orange Cicada Brood XIX that will be abundant in 2024, but you can use this same pattern to tie the perennial black/green/white cicadas, or try it in other creative color combinations.
