Machine shop tips and tricks of the trade. sometimes when you make a pocket in a part, the corner must be square and not a radius. when this happens you need to use this: Bridgeport shaper or slotting attachment.
This little machining project is a mounting plate that needs to fit square edged tubing. luckily it is an aluminum machining job so it cuts very quickly. the endmill radius was only 1/4" but the slotter took it out quite quickly. i'm not sure if any other brand of milling machine offered this attachment but this is one little machine accessory we could not live without!
