Top Activated Gas Cylinder Replacement Instructions

1. To begin this process, invert your chair so it can be securely worked on.
2. Next, remove the cylinder and base from the core of the chair by twisting the cylinder out from the core with a pipe wrench. This is held in only by friction, but it can get quite tight from regular sitting. Don’t be afraid to muscle this step.
3. Next, remove the old cylinder from the base by hitting it from the underside with a hammer. This is also a friction fit and may take some time and muscle.
4. Now you can install the new cylinder by inserting the small end into the hole on the bottom of the chair core. The base can also be reinstalled over the thick end of the cylinder at this time.
5. Now flip the chair back to it’s wheels to test the set screw (the screw that activates the cylinder). If your chair doesn’t lower or raise as its suppose to, then this screw is what’s causing that.
6. The set screw is located inside the plastic housing under the seat of your chair directly over the cylinder. Make half turns with an Allen key or a T-25 torx bit to adjust the screw until your chair is working properly.
7. Once everything works as intended, all that’s left is to close up the plastic housing and enjoy your new cylinder.

Side Activated Gas Cylinder Replacement Instructions

1. To begin this process, invert your chair so it can be securely worked on.
2. Before you remove the cylinder, you’ll need to disengage the cylinder cable. This cable can be located in the plastic housing under the seat of the chair.
3. To disengage the cable, first pop the white tube from the clip, and then unloop the metal bead from it’s clasp. Now the cylinder can be removed without damaging this cable.
4. Next, remove the cylinder and base from the core of the chair by twisting the cylinder out from the core with a pipe wrench. This is held in only by friction, but it can get quite tight from regular sitting. Don’t be afraid to muscle this step.
5. Now you can install the new cylinder by inserting the small end into the hole on the bottom of the chair core, orientation doesn’t matter as the cable connects spin. The base can also be reinstalled over the thick end of the cylinder at this time.
6. Now you’ll need to reengage the cylinder cable. To reengage, first place the metal bead in the curved clasp, then press the white cylinder into it’s clip. Try giving the height adjustment lever a press, if the cable compresses, then everything is in order. If the cable does not compress, then the issue is unknown, and our customer service will help you diagnose the cause.
7. Lastly, flip the chair back to it’s wheels and seal the plastic housing. Enjoy your new cylinder!
