In this video I prove the Filioque is true, contra the Eastern Orthodox, thereby showing Catholicism possesses the fullness of Truth. I start by showing the different positions on the hypostatic origin of the Holy Spirit, pulling from the Eastern Orthodox Council of Blachernae vs the Ecumenical Council of Florence. Then I make a theological argument for the Filioque from John 16. I debunk Photius on John 16. I refute the essence energies real distinction and thereby debunk energetic procession. I show the Thomistic doctrine of the Trinity is correct and in line with Cappadocian thought. Then I show the Holy Spirit's reception of knowledge from the Son points to the Holy Spirit's reception of essence and being from the Son, contradicting the EO council of Blachernae.
Then I show that St. Augustine, St Epiphanius, St. Isidore, St Ambrose, St. Hilary, St. Athanasius use John 16 to prove the Filioque. I then answer common Eastern Orthodox objections to the Filioque. Then I make an argument for the Filioque from Revelation 22:1 and then the taxis of Persons.
This is simply the first half of the video which discusses theology and some scriptural proof for the Filioque. The next video will cover more Patristic evidence for the Filioque and show how the Economy reveals the Immanent Trinity.
