I made a Machine to Throw Rats from my Fruit Tree!

Rats have invaded my fruit tree so to save the tangerines that remain, With some fairly primitive engineering I build a DIY machine to try and keep them away.  
I would be curious how this setup would perform for other species like birds, squirrels, possums etc
