وفترة شبابه انضم إلى The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn وادّعى أنّ ملاكه الحارس المقدس “عيواظ Aiwass” قد تواصل معه.
كان يعتقد أنّه نبي عصرٍ جديد ولعب دورًا هامًا في تأسيس دين تيليما.
