Microsoft technical support scams are a common way for scammers to steal personal and financial information from unsuspecting victims. In this video, Julie calls a reported scam number and shows how you can navigate a similar situation safely. After, she discusses how these scams work, how to spot them, and how to protect yourself.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft technical support, there are a few things you can do to protect yourself:

- Don't give out any personal information. Scammers will often ask for your credit card number, Social Security number, or other personal information. Do not give out any of this information to someone you do not know and trust.
- Hang up the phone. If you are suspicious of the caller, simply hang up the phone. You can always call Microsoft back on a number you know is legitimate.
- Check the caller ID. Scammers may spoof the caller ID to make it look like they are calling from a legitimate Microsoft number. However, you can always check the caller ID to make sure it is legitimate.
- Beware of pop-up messages. Scammers may also try to trick you into clicking on a pop-up message that claims to be from Microsoft. Do not click on any pop-up messages that you are not sure about.
- Do your research at BBB.org. BBB has an extensive database full of accurate business information, so you can double check to see if a phone number or address doesn't match up. You can also find helpful resources like this one: https://www.bbb.org/article/news-rele...
