1979 US Clay Courts - Chris Evert vs Renee Richards

Chris Evert defeated Renee Richards 6-1 6-0 in the semifinals of the 1979 US Clay Court Championships in Indianapolis.  Richards earlier defeated #8 seed Stacy Margolin 6-2 6-2 in the second round, and #3 seed Virginia Ruzici 7-5 6-1 in the quarterfinals.  Evert defeated Evonne Goolagong 6-4 6-3 in the final.  This was the first year of play in the new Indianapolis Tennis Center, on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis.  The tennis center was demolished in 2011 and is now a grassy area and parking lot.
