Hey guys, this is my MGR: R playthrough on the Revengeance difficulty using only the HF blade (with the pole-arm thrown in for some variety), no items (except during Monsoon and Armstrong I use healing items because I am a scrub), and the default costume with no wigs. I did this as a challenge to myself to see if I could beat this game on the hardest difficulty and decided to record the whole thing. I have edited out most deaths so it's pretty much one continuous playthrough. I wanted to upload the video so that I would always have it even after I delete if off my hard drive (seriously, this video plus all the clips is 160 GB). I don't really expect anyone to watch this, this is mostly just for storage, but I did make it public in case anyone wanted to check out this amazing game.
Originally, I was going to do a commentary over this video, but I realized that I probably wouldn't be able to come up with enough things to talk about for 6 hours, nor did I want to do the research to come up with that much stuff to say. That's why all cutscenes and dialog are included. So I guess you could watch it as kind of a video game movie EXCEPT...
At the end of the MG Excelsus fight, I accidentally knocked out my headphones which caused OBS to stop recording audio. So I did have to delete some cutscenes that had no audio, so unfortunately there is some story parts at the end that are missing. I apologize for that. I debated editing in the parts that had to be cut out, but I had already spent about a year and a half editing this thing on and off and just wanted to be done (I recorded this back in the summer of 2019) and I didn't want to hop back into the game and beat the boss again just to grab a cutscene.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this playthrough. Obviously I spam the parry far too much and need to get my timings better (that's why the Monsoon fight takes like, a half hour lol) but I didn't even think I would be able to do this. I usually avoid playing games on the Ultra hard difficulty, so I was surprised when I actually finished this. I plan to one day do a commentated playthrough, but probably with a little bit easier of a challenge, since I'll be talking and distracted.
