Exploring the Algarve: Our Incredible Journey from Albufeira to Sagres

Are you planning a trip to Portugal's Algarve? Consider putting a road trip along the southern coast to Sagres on your travel itinerary. We went from Albufeira to Sagres. Albufeira is known for its family-friendly activities, fabulous restaurants, and wild nightlife. Its beaches are also splendid. Sagres has a laid-back, surf vibe, with some nice-looking restaurants near the ocean. Part of its claim to fame is its proximity to the end of the world, or to the end of what was known of the world before explorers like Magellan and Columbus saw that there was more to it.
Our stops along the way:
- Lagos Harbor (Lagos Marina)
- Ponta da Piedade (Piety Point). In 2020, Lonely Planet declared Ponta da Piedade one of Portugal's 10 natural wonders.
- Arte Bianca Sagres. This fantastic pizzeria offers amazing, delicious, digestible, allergy-friendly, vegetarian, vegan, and meaty, traditional pizzas – as well as some other dishes that we're sure our fantastic.
- Fort Sagres. Go for the views, natural phenomena, and history. http://promontoriodesagres.pt/
- Lighthouse of Cabo de Sao Vicente. This is the lighthouse at the end of the world. The views are incredible and there's a nice little spot to grab a bite and a drink and relax.
