Responsorial Psalm 98 & Gospel
Responsorial Psalm 98 & Gospel Acclamation for The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, also called Immaculate Conception Day! It celebrates the sinless lifespan and Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 8 December, nine months before the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, celebrated on 8 September.
It is one of the most important Marian Feasts in the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church celebrated worldwide.
Pope Pius IX on 8 December 1854 issued the Apostolic constitution Ineffabilis Deus:
"The most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instant of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the saviour of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin."
Let us ask Our Lady for a grace: Let us not lose heart: The Lord has given everyone what it takes to weave holiness within our everyday life! And when we are assailed by the doubt that we cannot succeed, or the sadness of not being adequate, let us allow ourselves to be looked upon by the “merciful eyes” of Our Lady, for no one who has asked for her help has ever been abandoned!
