The first few minutes of your day can set the tone for the whole thing!
If you're like me you wake up a little fuzzy sometimes, so being in control of where your thoughts go immediately can take some practice. It can also feel a little... Well remember Stuart Smalley from Saturday Night Live? "I'm good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!"
I know these things to be true, however:
Good things happen outside our comfort zone
What you think about most will come in to your life
Here are some simple steps for starting your day off with a laser-focused and powerful mindset:
Write down a specific goal (see my video above for examples)
Set a specific time frame for reaching that goal- mine is by the end of April, 2014 for example
State how you will meet that goal, what's your plan? What will you do in exchange for the completion of that goal? Bring value to others? Go to the gym daily? Eat healthy?
Write down a few affirmations. Some examples of mine are: "I bring value and inspiration to other people, I am here to serve", and "I surround myself with people who are positive, dynamic, and caring".
Immediately after you wake up, go to the mirror and read your goal(s) and affirmations (I keep mine next to my mirror)! Again, it might feel kind of silly, but you know what? It works, so a little goofiness at first won't kill you :)
Napoleon Hill also includes a "Self Confidence Formula" in Chapter 3 of his very famous book (which I referenced in my video and just above), Think And Grow Rich. As well, his Definite Major Purpose is an good outline of what I discussed above, and where I got those principles from.
Lastly, I know it can be tough in the morning, but go through these with feeling and strong emotion! Just reciting words isn't enough, you need to connect them with passion and strong, positive, confident feeling that you will achieve your desired outcome, because you will!
